We would kindly like to inform, that on November 16th, an Extraordinary Lithuanian Muay Thai Union ( LMTU ) Conference was held at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Under the Government of The Republic of Lithuania in Vilnius, Lithuania. Conference was attended by ten representatives of sport clubs from all over Lithuania.
Among the most important objectives of the conference were the election of new LMTU’s President. Conference delegates were introduced to Doctor of Technical Sciences, Martial Arts enthusiast, a former Diplomat and Businessman – Nerijus Zukas candidature, his program and candidates to the Executive Committee. For the candidate N. Zukas to LMTU President post and his proposed composition of the Executive Committee – union members voted unanimously.
Executive Committee members that were elected:
First vice president, became a political and social activist, former mayor of Kaunas and the last parliamentary term member Erikas Tamasauskas;
Second vice president – a member of Parliament Arturas Skardzius;
Chairman of Judges Council – international Muay Thai Judge Saulius Seskevicius;
Chairman of Coaches Council – Muay Thai pioneer in Lithuania, Ex President of LMTU, President of sport club „Titanas“ – Marius Misiunas;
General Secretary – Sport Club „Titanas“ Expansion Manager – Nerijus Luksas
Public Relations Representative – a public relations specialist Antanas Martusevicius.
„I am convinced that the development of Muay Thai in Lithuania has a lot of untapped potential. Together with my team and the sport community, we will be working on promoting the sport and make every little effort to help sport clubs to educate high skill athletes “ , – said N. Zukas.
According to newly elected President and Executive Committee, the main objectives and challenges are – to strengthen the Lithuanian Muay Thai Union by attracting new members, to ensure that on an international championships, our country will be represented by the best athletes, who have appeared and showed their best in local tournaments and to raise Lithuanian skill of Muay Thai.
The Conference participants also heard the speech of former President Zydrunas Jasiunas and a report on the work done and results achieved. Muay Thai sport clubs leaders also had the opportunity to discuss the sport’s issues and experiences, discuss all the common problems with the new union leaders.
During the conference LMTU President and the Executive Committee had a chance to make their first pleasant job done – to vote for a new sport club membership approval. President N. Zukas expressed the belief that this move will encourage other sport clubs to join Muay Thai community .
